Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Designer to join our team. The successful candidate will be involved in the design, development, and coordination of electrical systems for various projects across sectors like commercial, industrial, and residential. The role demands technical expertise, knowledge of building, electrical, and life safety codes, and meticulous attention to detail to ensure that designs meet regulatory standards and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Development: Create detailed electrical and fire alarm design drawings, schematics, and layouts using AutoCAD and Revit. Design includes power distribution, lighting, grounding, fire alarm and control systems.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other designers to integrate electrical systems into overall project designs. Ensure coordination with HVAC, plumbing, and structural/architectural elements.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure all designs comply with national, state, and local electrical codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NEC, NFPA, IEEE standards). Stay updated with changes in these standards.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation including specifications, material lists, and as-built drawings.
- Client Interaction: Engage with clients to gather project requirements, provide design options, and present solutions. Address client queries and make design modifications as needed.
- Quality Control: Participate in design reviews and interdisciplinary coordination meetings to ensure the quality and functionality of the electrical design.
- Project Management Support: Support project timelines and goals as they relate to electrical and fire alarm design.
Requirements:
- Attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, etc.).
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting design, control systems, and safety systems.
- Knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code) and NFPA 101 (Life Safety Code) along with Florida Building and Fire Prevention Codes.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field. Alternatively, an Associate's degree with substantial relevant experience, preferably in a consulting or construction engineering environment.
- PE license preferred, but not required.
- Good people skills, ability to be a team player, and a great attitude are essential.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
- Occasional site visits might require the ability to navigate construction sites, including climbing ladders, walking on uneven surfaces, etc.
Work Environment:
- Primarily office-based with occasional field visits to job sites.
- Must be adaptable and able to work independently or as part of a team.
